Great light with a wimpy battery

I love the weight, light quality, collapsibility, etc. of this light. The reason I’m giving it only 3 stars is that—even when brand new—I get maybe 2 hours of light on a max setting when starting at a full charge.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. If it can only be used for 2 hours at maximum brightness, it seems there may be a product issue. We've sent a replacement to youat no cost. Please check your email,Thank you!

Perfect campsite/ tent lantern

I have been camping regularly for over thirty years. My two children and I spent entire summers at a campground. I already have one Kizen Light, I also got the LED Solar Foldable Solo Camping Light from that LightUpCamp site. Both are pretty cool in their own way, but after using 'em, I definitely have a favorite.
First off, they both do the basic job – give you light when you're out camping or if the power goes out, and they charge with the sun, which is neat. No need to hunt for batteries constantly, big plus there. Both are also collapsible, which is a total game-changer for packing. Seriously, trying to fit a big, bulky lantern in a packed backpack is a nightmare.
But, after using them side-by-side, there's a big difference in how they feel and hold up. The Kizen light, honestly? It just feels kinda cheap. Like, the plastic feels thin, and when you pull it open, it's a bit wobbly. It works, yeah, but it doesn't exactly inspire confidence that it's gonna survive getting knocked around a campsite or rattling around in the back of the car. And the battery life... eh. It'll give you light, sure, but it feels like it drains way faster than you'd expect, even after a good charge. Doesn't seem to last nearly as long as advertised in real use, which is a bummer when you're counting on it overnight.
LightUpCamp thing feels way more solid. When you expand it, it clicks into place firmly. The material feels tougher, like it could actually take a tumble without cracking into a million pieces. It just feels built better, you know? You get the sense that this one is actually made for being outdoors and not just a fragile emergency light.
The way it folds out is different, and I gotta say, I like it better for getting light spread out in whole campsite from above. It just feels like it gives a wider, more even glow than the Kizen when it's fully extended as a lantern. The brightness levels seem pretty good on this one too, enough to read by or navigate in the dark without feeling like you're blinding yourself.
Plus, and maybe this is just me, but the design of the foldable one from Light Up Camp feels a little more intuitive to hang. The handle is just easy to clip onto a loop in my tent. The Kizen's handle is fine, but this one just felt a little more secure.
Are there downsides? The solar charging on both is definitely slower than plugging them in via USB, which is to be expected, I guess. You gotta remember to leave 'em out in direct sun for a good chunk of the day if you're relying solely on solar. And maybe it's just the one I got, but the USB port cover on the foldable solo light feels a tiny bit flimsy. Gotta be careful with that.
Overall though, if I had to grab one for a trip, I'm reaching for the LED Solar Foldable Solo Camping Light. The way it opens up and the quality of the light it puts out just works better for me. The Kizen is okay as a backup or for around the house during an outage, but for actual camping? The foldable one gets my vote. Just remember where you put that little USB cover!

I use this for outages

This is great for camping! I can change the angle and brightness. I adjust the angle so the light hits the top of the tent and spreads out, so it’s not too bright. But I’ll be using this mainly for blackouts in my area. I tested it yesterday, and it charges my phone pretty fast. If you’re in a blackout or somewhere with no power, this will keep your mobile device charged. I also noticed that this device gives off light when you need it. The solar charging works well, and it comes with 5000 mAh Outdoor Camp Lights with 5 modes. The first one I got had flickering issues, but the seller replaced it, and the new one works great!
